This year is the 30th anniversary for the Fat Marrow Blues Band of which I am a founder member. During those 30 years we`ve had some pretty amazing times including a “Year in the Life of” which we filmed with the BBC. We had a BBC film crew with us for twelve months at gigs from Dorset to Chesterfield. It was transmitted in 1998 so I`m sure it`s on the net somewhere under BBC Sound Stories. We are now an 8 piece with brass and are as tight as the preverbial duck`s.... Of late we tend to be more west country based and up coming dates are 14th July, Ropemakers, Bridport and 15th July, Manor House, Martinstown Dorchester.
In between all that I also play with my buddy Pete Buxton in a duo called “Sideways”. We cover, Blues, Jazz, Folk and have even been known to do the odd Paddy`s night with some Irish. We`ve just done Sidmouth Jazz Fest and will be doing Buxton Jazz Fest 10th & 11th July. Watch this space as they say.
Ps, for those that don`t know me, I designed the first electric (haRmonic Solutions) and then the first wireless harmonicas (HARMONIX) with AKG. Harmonix had a short lived history due to Cancer and the actions of the American giant Harman but the electric harps are the instruments I still gig with currently. I am considering reintroducing the instruments at present so if anyone is interested give me a shout and let`s see if the numbers would make it viable.
I have also designed a close mic system for amps which removes the need for a mic on a stand in front of your cab. It is branded Integral and is used by many harp players including our very own Will Wilde.
