An Easter message from HarmonicaUK

Well, hello everyone and a very warm welcome to our April newsletter. We certainly have an eggstravanganza for you this month, so let’s crack on with it!

Those of us who were able to attend Richard Taylor’s outreach meeting, I’m sure, found it both informative and incredibly inspiring. Great work Richard and the Outreach Team! If you would like to find out what happened at the meeting you can watch the recording here or on YouTube.

Are you missing your holidays? Let’s sort that out for you straight away. Join our very own editor of Harmonica World magazine, Dave Colclough, playing us around the world in 80 plays! Dave takes us around the countries on diatonic, chromatic and bass harmonica, playing tunes which represent each country.  Follow his journey and listen in to Radio Bath Monday afternoons at 3:15 pm or check out his YouTube Channel.

Fancy a course? How about learning with Liam Ward, Ben Hewlett or Lee Sankey? Go on, give it a go and it might be fun!! All details are on our website for you to peruse at leisure.

Now it’s our time to shine with our wonderful open mic on the 2nd of April at 5pm. Open for everyone, with a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. So, no excuses, even if you choose to sit back and watch, you can expect anything from Hot Cross Buns to Bach! Remember to bring your smiles, and your harmonica would be useful!!

Also, let’s not forget our Friday coffee mornings at 11am. Join us for light-hearted chat and laughter where you will be able to share experiences and simply enjoy the company of other likeminded folks!

Finally, and I hear you breathe a sigh of relief, continue to read about upcoming events and items of interest from our newsdesk website.  Until the next time, I wish all of you and your families a very Happy Easter! Enjoy indulging and I will see you on the other side for the diet. Yum!!

A message from the Chair

Hello Everyone,

May I start by thanking everyone for their well-wishes, I have to say that I have been very touched. I'd like to thank Barry Elms for holding fort for me for the past month while I’ve been unwell, and to the Committee and Patrons for rallying around.

The Chromatic Weekend team continue to make great progress. This is our first live event since 2019 and I know that you are in for a treat this year. If you are coming and haven’t reserved your accommodation and event tickets, there is still time. As a reminder the dates are the 18-19th June.  Just go to the Chromatic Weekend page of our website for more details and tickets.

Over the past month a number of new players have joined us for the first time.  I would like to welcome you all to HarmonicaUK, and I am looking forward to getting to know you all over the coming months. As a reminder, if you can’t join our regular meetings on a Friday, we have our Forums section within the members only section of our site, feel free to start off a conversation. I know we have a wealth of knowledge and experience from our members in the UK and in the 50 countries around the world.

HarmonicaUK is run entirely by a fantastic bunch of volunteers. We are always looking for new people to help. Working within our team as a committee member or helping out in a team is very rewarding. If you have a spare hour here and there then please get in touch with me personally: [email protected]. Currently we are looking for people to shadow our treasurer, secretary, membership secretary, IT, and additional hands to join newsdesk. So if you can spare a little time and have a great sense of humour then please get in touch.

Stay well and of course Happy Harping.

Pete
