Paul Gillings and Danny R signed to Bad Monkey Records

WELCOME TO BAD MONKEY GUYS!

We are so pleased to announce that these guys, Danny R & Paul Gillings, have signed to Bad Monkey Records, both individually and as the fantastic duo they have become over the last year! With new music coming from them both in 2022, released under the Bad Monkey banner, we are finding it a little difficult to sleep at nights as we eagerly await these new releases - and we'll be perfectly honest with you, in the nights leading up to the finalising of details, the excitement was plentiful, yet due to the excitement, sleep was virtually non-existant! And yes Paul... Still smiling!

The guys have had a great 2021 travelling all over performing their music and 2022 is looking just as busy! With new releases under the Bad Monkey Label set to launch and with gigs lining up far in advance we are so happy to have the Danny & Paul on board and to have the chance to work with them in the years to come.

Hand crafted, acoustic, Indie Blues-Rock songs are what's on offer from Danny R and Paul Gillings and the soulful, grit-infused beauty of Danny R's voice, backed by his own expert guitar playing, is superbly interwoven with harmonica virtuoso Paul Gillings' lyrical note choice to create something that you genuinely won't have heard anywhere else. Their collaboration draws on an eclectic range of influences and oozes with an originality you'll fall instantly in love with.
In 2019, Paul released the acoustic blues album: You Don't Even Know, which reached number 9 in the Independent Blues Broadcasting Association charts and a followed it up in 2020 with the highly praised Invisible Prison, an electric blues album that reached number five in the Roots Music Report chart. Since May 2020 Paul has been an endorser for Seydel, the world's oldest harmonica company.

Danny has been playing the guitar from the age of 15 and started singing when he was 22. Since the age of 16, Danny has played both the electric and acoustic guitar within a number of bands and duos. Danny's first release as Danny R, Me You & Eko was recorded by Paul in his home studio and released on all digital platforms in December of 2019. After featuring on several of each others recorded tracks and enjoying the creative process, Danny invited Paul to his rehearsal at Cafe Studios in Lowestoft to jam out a few numbers and see how it went. Paul initially fancied playing bass in an attempt to, in his words, "mix it up a bit", lasting just one session before jumping in on the harmonica. The rest as they say is history and with an eagerly awaited new release coming at the start of 2022 things are looking good.

These two excellent musicians stand tall by themselves, but together are quite simply put, the perfect fit! They both bring their own feel to everything they do together and the sound is magical. They were meant to meet and work together, with each bringing the best out of the other. If you haven't seen these guys live or listened to their music now is the time to put that right.
