Hi HarmonicaUK members!

I've just posted a new slow minor blues track on Youtube. See it here.

Broken Dream Blues is one of my favourite tracks from the new album. As a musician I’m always trying to tap in to that greater power/ divine energy, you can never force it to happen but I was lucky enough to experience it on this recording in the solo that starts at around 4:52 (it usually happens at this point in the song at live shows too). The only way I can describe it is like you lose yourself in the physical world and just become one with everything. As I’m wailing on the harp it’s like screaming in to the abyss, letting all my emotions out, and experiencing all emotions all at once.

I wrote this song at a low point in my life and it helped me to get through it. As I’ve gotten older I’ve found more and more that playing the blues is something I HAVE to do to help me get through hard times. I remember Charlie Musselwhite said to me once “The Blues will never let you down” and I think he was right. I’ve always been a big fan of slow minor blues, I was raised up listening to a lot of Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac, he was a master of it and a big influence on this song.

Throughout my career a lot of people in the music industry have advised me to steer clear of ‘blues cliches’, stay away from the standard 12 bar format, and even avoid putting the word ‘Blues’ in song titles, because the blues is supposedly not commercial. A while ago I decided to stop listening to them. I’m a blues / blues-rock artist, the majority of my influences are blues/ blues-rock artists, it’s who I am, and I’m proud to play the blues and be an ambassador for this genre.

I hope you enjoy the video.

All the best.

Will Wilde.
